Massage can simply be defined as the manipulation of soft tissues to help them relax. There are various ways to do this including applying movable or fixed pressure, causing movement of a particular part of the body or holding.

It is administered by a therapist using their hands. However, in some cases, they may use their feet, elbows or forearms.

Through the training that the therapist has undergone, they know the amount of pressure to apply on particular parts of the body. This is simply a science and art.

Types of massage.

This type is generally a combination of Swedish treatment and essential oils. It is strictly for people who are not allergic to essential oils and smell.

This is a rather expensive type compared to the Swedish treatment but effective in relieving muscle tension due to addition of heat.

  • Deep tissue healing.

As the name suggests, this type of treatment involves application of a lot of pressure to the tissues. It is the best option for people with chronic pain or a lot of muscle of muscle tension.
